Re: My scientifically relevant incubation/fruiting chamber [Re: PussyFart]

Hey there,

I'm planning on building an incubator, to accelerate colonization times, and keep temps consistently between 26 and 28°C - and I am thinking of building a TiT - Tub in Tub incubator, with an aquarium heater submerged in water in the bottom one, connected to a digital thermostat.

But before I buy the two identical tubs, I wanna try out the old dead chest freezer in the garage... Do you think that can work? It has two levels, like a step, in the center of the cubical freezer. So I can fill the lower "basin" with water, submerge the aquarium heater, take the thermostat's prod  and heater's cable through a hole I'll drill and seal up with silicone, and then place my jars on the higher step. What do you make of this? I'll also add a bit of bleach to the water, for safety sake  and design a grid for petri dishes and lc's.

CO2 does not settle out of air because its soluble in air.  However, if the air inside of the fruiting chamber was still (not gonna happen) then the CO2 would settle to the bottom due to density.

No, it wouldn't, because it does not separate itself from air, the 2 remain mixed together.
