They've been expensive for awhile now, never bought one myself but had friends paying a grand for them like 10 years ago and others doing the same now. The speed technology is moving forward is just crazy, I remember when everything was running on DOS and a gigabyte was a lot of space... gone are those days

My laptop came out like a year or so before i got it then they started releasing HD graphics, then i5's now they're at i7
If you spend a grand you could have ps4 style graphics on your laptop and a heavy CPU for big multiplayer games with physics. Not optimized but still a good 30 fps
I can't wait, we're at the point were graphics have nowhere to go unless people give a shit or want to spend like 40 million dollars on their game
Those prices will go down eventually. It's just they wont be gaming laptops more like normal user ones and used alienwares.

Holographic technology is picking up speed, I think the next step (in a few years) will be no screen

In 1999, Toshiba purchased the patents and rights to technologies involving clear screen monitors/televisions. The company they purchased these rights from plummeted into nothing and took their money and ran. Not many people heard about it. Ten years later Toshiba's stock booms as their clear screens have finally started leaking into the public sector. Source: the internet. In ten years we'll have Tony Stark's computers.

YeAH? To the consumer the projection is where you get the highest resolutions they doo have t'v's in china though with 4k in labs I guess though, the images would still have to be represented as pixels, there would need to be a light source and there would have to be something to hold the projection
unless you're talking like real life actual 3d, that would be bad ass. Maybe they could be a different image into everyones eye so it looks 3d

How they'll do it I don't know, but someone's going to want to capitalize on it http://www.engineering.com/DesignerEdge/DesignerEdgeArticles/ArticleID/5920/MIT-Develops-Cheap-Hologram-Technology.aspx
Before 2050 we'll probably be steeped in virtual reality, I hope it all goes to the best can only imagine the potential for abuse (like torture)
