what about this?? verm-poo
    #1863772 - 08/29/03 09:51 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

just want to get some thoughts on this for those in the know.

i heard that someone was thinking of casing with a 50/50 of verm and poo. using verm instead of straw.

would this be ok, he just wants to add nutrients for the myc to fruit on and just does not want to mess with straw for some reason. this may have been covered so sorry for the repeat.

thanks for any advice for my bud.

You don't want to use anything with nutrients in it for casing. I believe you are talking about bulk growing though. This is the process of adding your spawn to a larger substrate, and using that to fruit. Casing is when you just take the spawn and put a non-nutritios layer over it for water retention, and contam resistance.

To answer your question yes you can use just poo and verm for a substrate. No you can not use it for a casing. Read the FAQ and the teks from front to back, and then pick a technique that you think will work for you. If it is your first time do the PF Tek first. It really will teach you a lot and boosts your chances of success quite a bit.

thank you shakta, you read enough and it all kind of blends together. thanks for clearing that up. the idea was to let the spawn gobble up some more food for a better fruiting platform and not just case them.

thanks again.
