Peanuts and shrooms?

This may be an odd question, I gave a search for peanuts but didnt see anything...

Im wondering if anyone has ever heard of peanuts or some kind of peanut product going along with shrooms. Im curious because Im going to try shrooms soon and someone told me they tasted like peanuts, and I have a very severe allergy to them.

Of course Ive only heard that they taste like peanuts from one kid.

PS: Lets see how fast I can stop being a newb :-P

Taste rarely has anything to do with allergies, and they don't taste much like peanuts anyway. My cat claims they have a sort of musty, earthy flavor which is like anything but peanuts.

i find the after taste to be slightly of a peanut aroma, shouldent cause any alergic reation

it wont cause an alergic reaction due to the fact, that peanuts are by no means close to fungus.and they deffinitly do have that distinctive mushroom taste, some like it some hate it, not my favorite flavor.

I like the taste, for me it seems to taste like a mix of sunflower seeds and pistachio nuts. The flavor gets a little old near the end of the eighth, but I'm by no means gagging on it. You definately won't have an allergic reaction to them if you're nut-intolerant :tongue: , unless you're allergic to certain types of fungi as well.

I was going to eat rattlesnake one time but a friend told me it taste like chicken...so, with my terrible chicken allergies I decided against it and went with the tuna instead.OK, I'm not really allergic to chicken but,if I were,I would still eat the rattlesnake.......see where I'm goin' with this yet?!?!?!? A rattlesnake is a rattlesnake,chicken is chicken,even if they "tasted" exactly the same.....It's still not chicken! In addition,if mushrooms tasted like peanuts,I don't believe people would go to the lengths they do to mask the taste.

They have the same texture though, that's why people often make that presumption about a lot of other foods.

The proteins found in peanuts and other tree nuts are what cause the allergic reation. Even if your shrooms smell and look like peanuts, they don't contain the proteins you would be allergic to.
