yeah, the buzzed thing seems to be a fucking lost cause, when it comes to getting some meditation in... i forgot and before long i'm in bed.
the morning it is, before any substances. coffee included. i'll see how many days i can get through. lol, maybe only one. i dunno. i wanted badly to try getting back in to meditation and really have a go at it this time.

That's why I started this challenge. Many of us want to do meditation, but I think it really helps to have a reminder like this and a little bit of positive peer pressure.

yeah, no kidding. it was on my mind, for the longest time... now i've moved out of the city, and i told myself i'd fucking do it this time, but it's even proving harder then i thought, even with this thread. which is why this thread is awesome.
i just gotta shift my schedule around and stop staying up so late smoking weed; then i could probably get my mind to cool down and focus on a little bit of emptiness.

I like having a half-hour morning meditation session as I feel it really helps set a better tone for my day. I get up a little early to fit in some extra time before everything else. I deal with both a chronic pain disorder and an anxiety disorder, taking time to clear my mind helps to mitigate some of the stress and aggravation I tend to wake up with.
I also like to fit in a second full session towards the end of my day; however, I am not as rigorous about that one and allow it to pass some days. I find I am more apt to fit in this extra time on days when I have suffered from an attack during my day.
Am able to sit in meditation after dosing with meds without issue. Substances can inhibit people's practice, so a number of traditions advise against them.
Dōgen (one of the founders of Japanese Zen traditions) advised a practice of laying down meditation for the elderly and those with back problems, so laying flat on your back does have sound basis for those expressing concern.
Well wishes all.

So far I am not doing a great job at staying on schedule. I've been in the process of moving from an apartment to house, which I have to do in between my work schedule, so it's been a bit hectic lately.
I think tonight when I get home from work I will be setting some time aside for it. Usually I enjoy meditating in the morning before work, but that hasn't been working out lately. I can tell my mind is starting to race more, so I'm definitely ready to get back in the swing of things.
As for the rest of you that are also having trouble finding the time; stay strong! I've noticed that even if you can't give yourself 20-30 minutes to clear your mind, spending 5 minutes with your eyes closed and focusing your intentions can really calm and relax the mind.
This thread is awesome. I'm glad to have the support of this community.

Yeah I find the "quickies" are good too. I usually try to do 5 minutes or so on my lunch break and sometimes my other breaks at work.
But no substitute for a decent longer sit

Day 2. Appreciated the feeling of fresh air filling my nostrils. Maybe tomorrow my sinuses will get some attention.

I started meditating an hour a day a few days before this challenge got posted. Last night I reached a state of total calm and absolute focus for 10 or 15 minutes. I dont really identify with most buddhist beliefs, but I think its what they call the first Jhana. It was blissful, and I became so focused on my breath I could feel every little nuance of it. Its so difficult to hold though! Its a mental house of cards. Any little thought threatens to blow it all down, and there always there, whispering in the background, waiting for the slightest break in your focus so they can come spilling in and wipe it all away. Im making progress though, Ill sharpen it into a laser like focus that cant be broken. Ill post updates when I break into the second.

This is about as equally challenging as the no fap challenge. Maybe even harder. My gut tells me NiceChrisMan will win this one too.

I won't even attempt the no fap challenge. I've been wanting to meditate again for a while now though, and this is a perfect excuse to start. This thread is what 4 days old? I know I posted that I was in right away....still haven't successfully made it to 30 minutes.

5 days goin strong. It's hard to find the time for sure, but I've mostly been doing it when I get home from work, although I prefer mornings. Making the 30 minutes was hard the first 3 days, now it's pretty easy. Still have lots of thoughts and stuff, but getting more consistent at catching myself thinking and redirecting my attention to my breath.
When I first was getting serious I used breath counting. Count each breath up to 10 and start over. Some people might find this useful.

I'm glad I saw this I'm in.
This should help me gather the motivation to be consistent with my meditation.
I've been very on and off lately, and when I'm on, I'm at the point already where it's about to be a normal habit that fits in my schedule effortlessly. Just need to keep it consistent. I'll do my first 30 right now.

Day 4. I've so far pretgty easily replaced my morning ritual of laying in bed and browsing the shroomery for an hour with reading this thread and going "oh yeah meditation" and then meditating for 30 mins.

Man, las night was a rude awakening. It has been a while since I've sat for a solid 30. Usually I've been putting in a quick 10 or maybe 15, and it felt way longer. It was difficult to stay awake for the last 10 minutes, but I was super tired.
Lets keep the momentum going
