Death?

I wonder why so many people have "died" during their trip. Anyone that has, including myself, knows its a life changing exp. Does any one know the preoccupation with death and tripping?

Its called ego-death, and many inexperienced trippers confuse the death of the ego with the death of the body. Once you recognize it for what it is the death theme will go away and it can be enjoyed more, as much as you can enjoy anything in that state.

Ego-Death can be very scary for those not knowing its goin to happen... I learn from all my Ego-Death's and use them as a tool to better understanding life

I thrive in harsh conditions. ego death is a joy ride for me now. it might be scary the first time it happens, youll learn to except things that you have no control over. thats when you get the most insight from a "trip"

Moreso than the whole 'ego-death' thing, I think it may have a bit to do with the whole idea of seeing 'more' than regular reality, seeing a difference. That seen difference makes it possible to finally view reality objectively. So in other words, its very (and can be shockingly) similar to death.

no if you snort 20 mg's of 5meo dmt , youll actually think you died. no joke, its way differnt then a shroom ego death. which is still intense. just not quite as frightning as 5meo.

i know my chemicals trust me. it was on purpose too. I wanted an intense experience but wasnt prepared for how intense it was. Live and learn, know i warn eveyone how intense it is. i never recomend it to anyone either.

Someone I know who is very trustworthy told me him and a few friends were smoking dmt, and then it was this girls turn. She stopped breathing, and they gave her CPR. When she came out of it(a bit less than 10 minutes) she said she was in a place (death) where she had the choice to stay with death or to come back..and for a while there she felt like she wanted to stay. But she's okay now.

SWIM has only smoked 5-MeO-DMT before, how does snorting compare?
Does it last short/longer? More/less worthwhile/"enjoyable"?

it lasts for about an hour as opposed to 5 minutes when smoked. its enjoyable for the first 5 minutes while you come up. but after that it just gets really weird. the body load becomes way too much, i found myself standing up, then sitting right back down i couldnt feel comfortable. the visual were rather nice though, tons of trails and some patterns. overall though i seriously felt like i was about to die from it, and my friend was trying to talk to me but his words came out all mumbled. its way different then smoking. i prefer smoking it though, snorting it is like a slow rollercoaster through hell. smoking is like a fast one.

Can anyone explain what happens with ego-death? I've been there and i have an idea but I'm sure someone around has a text book definition that they can put into layman's terms.
