Could you have possibly innoculated while the jars were still to hot, thus killing the spores?

I really wouldn't think that air exchange would be a problem with germination. Severe CO2 buildup can seriously slow or stop colonization though...

Germination of your jars should have definitely taken place after three weeks. I would say a limited amount of viable spores were available in your syringe. Assuming the others didn?t contaminate that is... Too hot a jar is a common mistake. I have done it myself trying to rush things in the past. It is not often known that spores will be killed at 104F.

Luckily you had at least 2 germinate. Once you get these going you can make your own fresh prints and syringes. They will perform much better.

I dont know about the weather in your area but right now where I am its been in the 105 area, it could be possible that your spores were damaged during transit

Sounds like the jars were still hot when they were inoculated. Even if they feel cool to the touch, they can be warm enough inside to kill the spores. I always wait overnight to be sure.

are the other 2 jars colonizing really slowly? I suggest u might have a bacillus infection. Its a bastard, i get them all the time. If u didnt PC ur jars, there is a definite chance. Bacillus always wins over mycelium, so if it took over before the spores germinated, it wouldnt allow the spores to germinate. It is characterized by a smelly, dirty sock like odor. either that, or ur spores were dead :-(.

Did you shake syringe up to mix up spores...maybe the spores were not distributed through out the syringe?

In future (if you buy more syringes), why not dedicate 1ml of a syringe to two 100ml jars of dextrose (or honey as I've just found that sure rocks) and then you'll be able to inoculate shit loads. I only go mycelium inoculations, way faster than spores...and every inoculation rocks.

As ATWAR said, gun the two jars you have got to make prints and your own syringes. Then you'll be set...forever. You've got 2 jars under way, you've got it all in the bag IMO. Think of the positive.
