From what I heard this type of thing was expected in that area of the state. Oh well, I know that's one town I won't be visiting if I ever take a trip out there.

Whats even more outrageous is that the majority of the voters voted for 64 in the springs. Democracy is being overuled by the nanny staters on the city council!

PS-- double fuck that bitch who said her son is now homeless because he is a marijuana addict. Aside from how incredibly unbelievable that sounds, I can't help but wonder how it would have transpired. I wonder, if this allegedly homeless son of hers has asked his clearly well-to-do mother for any type of assistance. Hell, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts the cunt kicked him out, herself after she caught him smoking pot. "Oh no-- can't have my snooty blue-blood pals see that I have a 'drug addict' for a son. Better get 'tough on crime'.... Hit the bricks, kiddo."
"See? Marijuana is evil and leads to homelessness!"

Exactly. I would kick him out if he was a crack head because you just can't trust a crack head. But even if my kid was a no motivation bong slob in the basement I still wouldn't kick him out to sleep under some bridge. You don't kick your son out because they have some problems. She blames pot, I blame her.
No offense, but I view your proposed solution to your imaginary scenario to be just as damaging as the one previously discussed-- just with a slightly more understandable "justification." It's still shitting on a family member with a problem for the reason your own happiness and benefit, as though "tough love" is really a workable solution to help most addicts. (It's not.) Further, I suspect it's rooted in the fact that you have sympathy for (probably derived from intimate understanding of) a marijuana addict, but not a hard drug addict...
IMHO "tough love" is an excuse so people can feel justified in their selfishness.
I'm not saying toughness can't (or shouldn't) be part of the solution. I'm just saying that absolute toughness of that type (I know you have nothing for yourself, and have a problem, but go live on the streets-- I'm sure that will help your problem and not just make you want to get loaded more) is extreme and unhelpful IMHO.
"Son, you have a serious problem, and I want the best for you.... I don't want to have to take drastic measures to protect myself from your problem, so I'm going to ask that you consider giving rehab a try, before I have no alternative but to make a harsh decision that neither of us will like..."
IMHO a far more acceptable (and productive) version of "tough love."

It's stories like this that make me hold off on moving to "the weed legal states" Dont kid your selves state law wont mean it is legal. "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. If only that was true and not a pipe dream (pun intended)
