Small sceletium harvest
    #1860086 - 08/28/03 08:00 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Hey Everyone,

So, I chopped up one of my Sceletium today..This plant in particular was kept outside for the last couple months.. Putting it out there, I guess, was just a little experiment to get an idea of what these plants can put up with, and maybe even see if there is noticeable potency difference between indoor and outdoor grown plants.  Today I clipped off alot of the useable material.  Unfortunately I didn't think quick enough to take a picture beforehand.

The clippings:

And..The victim.. =/  She looks so naked now :frown:

I'm not really sure what exactly I'm going to do with the foilage yet.  I guess for now it's just going to ferment in the bag for a while.  Hopefully it turns out alright

when you ferment you dont want the herb to mold.. so it must breathe some.. the  hotntot's tribe bruised it lightly with a rock and then put it in a leather bag, and left the bag to ferment in the sun for 8 days. the heat is needed to get rid of the toxic acids. dont wanna see that harvest become the wrong type of green.. ya know.

Yeah, I've been keeping a close eye on it for mold.  This is only my second round with fermenting so I'm still experimenting with different methods.. Up until now, I never really thought about 'bruising' the material..so after I read your reply I gave the bag a little beating.  It is sitting ontop of some flourescent lights at the moment, for the heat..it's been pretty chilli outside the last few days =/

I guess in a bit less than a week I'll remove the 'stuff' from the bag and let it air dry for a while.  I think I remember reading somewhere it might be a good idea to ferment a second time for a few days when the material has lost a good ammount of its moisture. Although I'm not sure about this.  Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Thanks for the 'bruising' suggestion jojoba
