Wow, its been over a year since i made my last post.

Im a fairly expert cube hunter, but i found these growing in my backyard. (central florida). I ripped it open out of curousity and it turned a deep blue very fast. Thought someone might help me ID.

I'll try and follow the guidelines.

a. Habitat (where and what does it grow on)

Central florida. In the shade. Ground is covered with old foilage, wood, old leaves, etc. (no, no cows to be found)

b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)

Gills are pores, spongey, and yellow. Almost like a sponge cake. Turns blue with the slightest pressure.

c. Measurements of cap and stem.

this is a small one, about 1 inch across. larger ones are in my yard, up to 2 inches wide.

d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)

thick stem, tough. seems to be solid.

e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, concical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)

spherical cap, slightly convex.

f. Spore print color (very important!)

could not seem to get a spore print. Mushroom did not have gills. Just left blue prints on the paper from the bruises.

g. Color that the mushroom briuses

very blue, very fast.

h. Scent of mushroom

uh.. mushroomy? Sorry, cant really come up with a description.

Let me know!

thanks.

That looks close to Boletus sensibilis, which is poisonous.

Happy mushrooming!
