Pics from the GH today....
Polyporus squamosus babies.
Piptoporus betulinus, probably as big as it is going to get.
Maitake chugging along.
And the second flush of Neolentinus ponderosus. These got rather large and tipped over due to the weight of the caps.

Very nice! It's so strange how the P. squamosus gets all branchy like that. I thought it was just me not having enough air... but yours looks like some kind of crazy creature too!

Got something REALLY random here. Look at these funky guys! This is a bunch of paper sacks that the myc had grown to while storing King and Pearl Oysters in the fridge. I added a mix of stem butts from both and soaked the paper. I wrung out the water, then smashed the wad into this quart plastic jar. I started growing what looked like capless mutants, but now those are pinning like crazy. Freaky lookin', isn't it?

I've got 24lbs of grain masters running right now, very excited to take this odd ball to market! That brown spot where they are poking out looks pretty weird.

Is this mushroom rare down where you are? This is the most common and prolific mushroom in our area. It would be like growing dandelions (which some farmers do lol)

They're not too common around here, at least I've only ever found one.

i wouldn't say it's rare. I know of a large log that produces well in the fall. I'm mostly growing it for this one chef since he said he loves the cucumber/watermelon rind flavor. since he's kind of a big deal (in the chefing world lol) I figure it would be fun to make him happy. plus I like growing stuff that no one else does, so I can be like 'you can't get this anywhere else right now'.

that looks like a decent yield. Any details about substrate, timing, temps etc? Terry told me they are a bit quicker than shiitakes but pretty similar growth parameters.

My humble success, Pioppino!
(The blues in the back are terrible but I have no clue how to fix that indoors. CO2 meter says ~500ppm. RR suggested more light so light there is. Temp about 65F.)

Thanks Drake. Just sterilized fir fuel pellets, couple handfuls bran, gypsum. When I could see fruits forming on the side I cut slits for them to get out of and put them in the Martha only then.

Such awesome shit in this thread! great work everyone.
(I love eating dryads saddle when young. They taste almost beefy if fried in high heat with a little butter. Really common around here in spring. I've noticed they like maples especially. Try looking on bike paths, old roads, and trails.)

Nice grow of the P. squamosus.

Man, maybe i should wild harvest and sell these then. Normally I could get a couple pounds by walking for 5 minutes on my property. I have two trees that fruit right along my driveway multiple times a year. I actually know a farmer who sells these at market because they are so locally available (but customers have complained that the mushrooms they sold sucked). I may have try selling them this year; just have to make sure to harvest extra early.
Check out this link of P. squamosus by tom volk. I have ate this mushrooms once; but this article has one of the reason i have not thought of selling it. Volk says he could never get it to taste any good and could potentially turn off people experimenting with mushrooms for their first time. In the past I have not wanted to risk turning people off, because king oysters and others taste delicious you cant not like those.
