Hi,
If you're talking about my pics, the first one is shiitake (sporework strain). It really just is a BRF cake with a few woodstick (7 to 10 mini 1 inch sticks) in it (BBQ style, cutted in 1 inch sticks, presoaked half a hour before putting it in the cake vertically).

What a perfect fruit it made! Looks cool next to the plants.

Yeah it was quite a big mushroom for the size of the cake. Almost perfectly formed, tasty. I was really proud!

That's quite the flush there Forrester. Looks like a nice process you have, especially with recycled bottles.

I do that same broth sometimes. You over cooked yer egg though.
Put the eggs in the pot with cold water. Bring them to a boil.
Once they reach a boil take them off of the heat for 3.5-4 mins for soft to barely solidified yolk.
It will change your life.

For any vegetarians out there, Kroger has some damn good not-chicken broth. Makes for some damn good ramen.

Thanks Anytime I'm growing aggressive species like these, oysters, or reishi, I try to use recycled materials if at all possible, whether it's pop bottles, old tupperware, or filter patch bags from failed attempts at other species. Saves money and reduces trash!

In my method I put the noodles in with the cold water, bring to a boil, poke the softened noodles around with a fork to make a nest for the egg, break the egg into the pot, simmer on low 3-4min. But the result is the same and it is incredible. Also if you add a few whole or half garlic cloves right at the start of cooking they get tender and mild and delicious. These are now my two favorite additions to ramen.

Dude! I do that too! It is easier to eat that way. I dig it. Eggs rule.

Harvested some of these Lentinus tigrinus this morning. Sauteed and ate over brown rice with some olive oil. I really liked the flavor, much like a mild shiitake as others have said.
I can't see this being a good commercial species, the caps (the only edible part) are so little and fragile and easily fall apart. Having to remove stems requires a lot of prep time for a little food. They were good though and grow so quick, quite worth the effort for a hobbyist. I'll grow more for sure
