Nice reishi!  What culture is that?

... and nice... black poplars...:mad2:

j/k, what's your casing mix?  I haven't cased anything yet but need to come up with a recipe.

That reishi is the culture that I got from you.
The casing is a 50/50+ mix.  I got the formula from JD.  Cup of pete, cup of verm, tablespoon of gypsum and a teaspoon of hydrate lime.

Amazing how even the same culture can look different when someone else grows it.  Thanks for the casing recipe, looks like it works well!

So I guess the reishi culture I already sent you (free) when you asked wasn't of any value?  Can't imagine any of my other cultures will be valuable to you.  Nevermind then, if I knew it was so precious to you I wouldn't have asked

Some blewit culture my buddy gave to me.

It's growing thin and swings a little to the right but it sure is beautiful.

When it thickens you'll see it.  Awesome stuff.

I have one on grain now.  It is coming along nicely.

You need to check your message box; I sent a message to you on new years eve.  And yes I would have factored that reishi you gave me in... but the value of your reishi culture compared to this beech culture is minimal.  Getting decent reishi culture and getting it to fruit is not hard; whereas many people have gone through many strains and attempts of beech and still have not had decent results.  This strain literally produce 1-1.3lbs on every block, every time, either out of the hole or top-fruit! I have few strains of exotic species that can even yield that much on the first flush, this consistently.  So in short, why did you blow your fuse?  On second thought, don't answer that;just know that there is really no need to be rash. :jah:

I don't think I really blew a fuse, lol... but if I was rash I do apologize.  I guess I was just a little surprised that someone who appears to be so spiritual would have such a materialistic attitude.

I understand your value system for cultures, but I have a different value system for life in general - if somebody does me a favor, I'm thrilled to be able to return a favor to them, especially when it would cost me literally almost nothing ($2 to send a wedge).  If it were me it wouldn't matter what the cultures or their value were, it's about being generous and helping people out.

I must try to respect the fact that not everybody sees things as I do, and you have every right to ask whatever you want for your cultures.  Again, sorry if I was rash - but I'm no longer interested in the culture, thanks anyway, and happy growing

:peace:

what's the incubation time on this culture?  i'm looking at 2 months with mine.  colonizes quite fast and then just sits till it feels like pinning.

Sorry for getting off topic, here's a P. squamosus (Dryad's saddle) bag that's getting some nice browning.  Hoping for primordia soon!

, I recently made up a couple sawdust jars of A.aegerita, which start to fruit immediately after colonization.
I could send you a sample if you're not having any luck with yours.

Ate about a pound of the poplars tonight.  I really do like their flavor.

I have a couple of plates of your Dryad's cooking along now Forrester. I need to do something with them tomorrow.

Hehe, awesome man I might take ya up on that!  I just got a new culture to try from Ratatoskr so I'll give that one a go first and see if I have better luck.  I seriously almost think I was given a mislabeled, non-fruiting culture (vendor LC syringe) of some sort.  Everybody in the WORLD talks about how easy they pin, on agar, grain, sawdust, everything   But not for me!

Nice!  Can't wait to see fruits from it.  It was a hearty little mushroom, lasted months on my front porch after I cloned it and tossed it out there, lol...  Didn't try to eat it, I got the impression it was old when I picked it but the culture sure took off after I got it on grain!

Hmm...I didn't send you a poplar?  Pretty sure I have one wedged up.  You want?

Edit:  I lied, no wedge right now.  Sorry I got a bit ahead of myself.

Let me know if you want it though.  I will get it to you.

Thanks, no worries!  You told Ratatoskr about it and he hooked it up (via you)  Such nice sharing people we have around here and the tek.  Gotta say I love it.
