While the mushroom are few and far between here in the mountains around Lake Tahoe, it is still enough keep me from going to crazy during the dry season.
Last month I found this terrestrial polypore that might be an Albatrellus species

It was along the trail to top of mount ralston

For most of July I've have been hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail
Neolentinus ponderosus in a pine stump

Suillus species under Pinus contorta var. murrayana and P. monticola

Some type of of Asco on a Chrysolepsis sempervirens bur

Fuligo septica

Entoloma Holoconiotum Thanks to Alan for your help with the name

Amanita aprica

Fruiting off a dead aspen root, maybe Flammulina populicola

A Calosycpha fulgens with a mold growing on it.

This one stumped me, not sure if it is a cortinarius or not. There weren't any more mature mushrooms around.

These were all found between 7,000-8,500ft or so. Here are some habitat shots.

Great thread and pictures thank you for sharing. Ive always wanted to visit the Sierra Nevada mountains. That is some amazing scenery. Do you prefer hunting in the fall or spring season up there?
Looks like an amazing place to hunt fungi.

I'm glad at least one of us is still up there finding mushrooms!
Your possible Cort reminds me of these corts, also found in the high Sierras.

Both are pretty kick ass. Spring in the Sierras is amazing simply because everything comes to life, beautiful wildflowers and waterfalls everywhere, plus you get Morels and Boletes and what not. But I've found that fall usually brings an amazing amount of fungi. One of the best hunts I ever went on was in Yosemite Valley in October.

Thanks guys!
Ran-d, I do think that cort you found is pretty darn similar to the one i found here. And I would have to agree that Spring is the prime hunting season in the sierras. Fall can be alright some years, but spring is normally really comfortable weather and there lots of edibles to be found. The flowers and high rivers really top off the whole season.
