I found this comprehensive archive collection quite inspiring and informative.
Tommy Douglas started Medicare in Saskatchewan (as premier) in the late 40's. He was a vocal critic of capitalism. Although never actually elected Prime Minister, his left-wing political views heavily influenced Canada's political direction throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Kiefer Sutherland is his grandson, one of Kiefer's speech's on the value of public health insurance is archived here as well...
