It could be a form of dry rot, or a bacterial contam :-(
Is there any smell coming from the jar?

Cool, one way to check smells in a near sealed jar are to place it in a plastic bag, leave for a few hours then open and smell the inside of the bag.

sounds like a contam to me......when the mycelium comes into contact with a competitor it usually has that brown colour around it

Practice makes perfect, man.  My kitten's first grow was like that, but her second grow she lost less, and now on her third grow she hasn't lost any so far.

good luck...

Yeah , contams are part of the game.
All my contaminated jars ext i dump
in on place in my garden and let
nature take its course.

What i do is, i have a part of my herb garden (which is wood chip
mulched) that is under my Rhubarb, were i throw all old
or contaminated casings and cakes, the area has a lot of straw and
a bit of horse poo there.
I scrape some aside, place in what being thrown, then recover
and let mother nature sort the rest out. This doesnt produce
many fruits, as I'm in zone 8, but they do pop up there from
time to time.
