Maybe you guys are right. They're not replacing marrow yet because they're not sure if it would help.

So,one of my ex's has some kind of long term/deadly cancer. We ended our relationship over four years ago. Occasionally I'll contact her and have the normal catch up conversation.

She was diagnosed with this illness around two years ago. The only thing I know is that its a cancer of the bones(I'm not sure what the details are).

They did the normal cancer shit and she went into remission. Three months ago on one of our catch up get together, she breaks the news that the cancer is back.

Then she does the unthinkable...she goes outside to have a cig. A fucking cigarette....I was just dumbfounded. Now this brings me to my moral standstill.

I didn't say anything to her about it and I'm not sure if I should. I mean, the woman has seen death more than once, but now she's inviting it. I don't feel like I'm in the position to be telling her what to do with her body.

She never used to smoke either, nor is it an occasional thing. For the two hours we were with each other she smoked four cigs.

I know I should try to help her stop. I just feel like its not my say.

This whole thing is just

What would you do?

If I were you, I would attempt to bring up the issue without preaching, because that would just make everything worse. Ask her why she is smoking. If her reply is at all related to stress because of her diagnosis, show her an alternative plant to smoke or consume to reduce stress, as others have said

That's what I'm afraid of,I don't want her to think I'm preaching to her. I'm just not going to say anything to her about it. She does indulge in marijuana heavily and frequently so I think she's okay.

May I direct you to possibly being a bone marrow donor?

Cancer is a helluva condition.

It fucks with you.

I started smoking after being in remission from non hodgkins lymphoma for 6 years.  Now I've been smoking for 5.  Eleven years in remission and I'm inviting my own painful death.

Maybe I just don't care anymore.  Maybe being faced with mortality at the age of 16 made me realize how fleeting this life is.

I just want to do what I want to do now.  Not have anyone tell me I can or can't.

Sometimes that may mean I just want to be miserable sometimes.  Maybe she does too.
