Casings First Flush Done - Now What?
    #1855330 - 08/27/03 05:08 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Should my friend pour water into his casing container and put it in the fridge over night? Recase it? My friend has heard different things, I just want some opinions. Thanks.

personally i wouldn't do this. pouring too much water would allow it to build up at the bottom and make it rot. a friend has used a sterile syringe and shot it up with 2cc in different areas for a total of 24 cc in a one quart casing with no problem however.

I have a small casing that hasn't even been out of the terrarium! It's now starting its 3rd flush. All I do is add water to it every couple days using a decent size eye dropper. I think its easier than spraying. I just add drops here and there where it soaks into the casing easy.

I agree, putting small amounts of water where it appears it's needed works well

I wish I had an eye dropper! That's good idea. Ive been carefully pouring sterilized water w/5% H2O2 on the spots in between the pins, but there are so many now I can't keep doing it for long! I need to get my lazy ass an eyedropper.

Hmm, my friend has heard of people just pouring water into their casing containers like a cake in a jar. My friend doesn't know though, guess my friend will try the eye dropper, just doesn't seem like it'd give enough water to make much a difference.

Are you talking about dunking that casing?

I'm asking about dunking that casing on behalf of my friend. He doesn't know which method of hydration is best after a flush.

The eye dropper I use is the kind meant for measuring medicine for kids. It holds quite a bit of water. You might have to fill it a couple times for a large casing.
