4th of July DUI Checkpoint

Video of a young guy being stopped by the police on the 4th, tries to show the officers that he knows his rights only to get a drug dog to falsely hit on his car which ended up being completely clean. Totally not surprising. This kind of stuff is why I just don't even drive on holidays.

My wife drove on the 4th of July with a quarter pound of weed in her car. I've forgotten to update my tags. Had she been stopped, our local PD guys would've asked us to pay for the beer on Thanksgiving or give over at least a half an ounce that they could enjoy. Not all of America is like this, but it's sad to see what some of it has become. Some police are still decent humans. Please don't forget that. I know we're fighting a "war", but not all soldiers in a war are following orders diligently and unquestionably.

they do this shit everywhere. If you react they get you for disorderly conduct. Same shit different day. These pathetic losers do the job for a power trip. I was in the military for a number of years and i just left a burger king job where i worked for 8 months. veterans got no discounts but police in arlington virginia got 50 percent off their meals. Tell me how that is right. and arlington is safe as hell. maybe 1 murder a year if that.

That cop might seem like a twat but he's the same guy who will pull that kid out of his burning car when he gets fucked up and smashes into a tree.
I learned a long time ago that being friendly and cooperative with cops is much smarter than busting their balls. Being a wise ass can get you arrested and cost you money, even if you're in the right. It's much better to play his game and hear the words "Have a good evening" as you drive off. You look in the rear view mirror and see those flashing lights get smaller and smaller.

This is still fucked up. They basically blackmailed you. Obviously it's better than the alternative of them just arresting you and taking all your shit, but it's not right.

Not in a town of 300ish people. If a half ounce saves a felony arrest for 4 ounces, why not? They're people who will enjoy it and go about their business being sherrif/deputy/firefighter/emt amalgamations for helping the town. It's chill.

They just shouldn't take it if they're not gonna arrest you. It's robbery, and it's wrong.

It's a little crooked, but I'd rather lose a little bud than have it on my record, not to mention going to jail.

Not doing your job and taking drugs in exchange is a little crooked in my eyes. But it's not a bad deal on either end so I'm not complaining.

So for you guys who think it's wrong.
What would be different about this is marijuana was packaged, sold and taxed by the state? Part of those tax dollars would be allotted to law enforcement, firefighters, little league, education, health care, all that happy shit. It's a small town. Cops who aren't afraid to burn one down look out for other people. I don't see how it's hard for some people to get, unless I guess you're in a major city with alliance storm troopers at every exit on the interstate or something. But really, how different is it hooking up dudes (and gal) with buds to stay off the radar and everyone's happy? Legitimately, if it was sold and taxed, it wouldn't be so much different.
And what's wrong with paying for protection (in a sense) in a drug war that puts non-violent offenders behind bars? If I'm sloppy enough to have to fork over bud to a cop to leave me alone, it's worth being left alone. And to be honest, if you were in the middle of fuck-all nowhere with the nearest person 30 miles away, would you tell a cop to go fuck himself for requesting some of your stash and not throw you in the one prison cell 45 minutes away in county?

If it were legal and taxed, the cops couldn't demand that you give over whatever amount they deem. There would be checks and balances. As it is, they get to do what they want.
And now you're making it sound more like extortion. "Pay me or I'll bust you."
And yes, I'd do the same, give over part of my stash to avoid getting arrested. Unless I was feeling froggy that night and had some way to get evidence of dirty police work (such as what you describe). Then I might play it through to try to get a pig off the force.

I'm guessing the people who would have a problem giving up a 12.5% of their QP to stay out of trouble have never been busted.

For sure.
Police corruption is both aweful and awesome.
The bad part is that corrupt police will stop you more often because they directly get money from it.
The good part is that you can do whatever you want, as long as you bring money with you.
I have seen both sides and won´t judge....except to say that I prefer dealing with corrupt police over dealing with straight police.
Corrupt police can be reasoned with. Straight police just want to take you to jail.
