I'm not experienced yet but golden syrup boiled for 30 minutes work amazingly well. The problem now is I need many more jars for all the mycelluim I have. I made my jar from a print. No contams but I've been very lucky so far. More details listed in my grow log.

liquid culture tek is nothing new . and, yes it works vary well . i hope i don't get banned for saying this, but the reason it's not popular with venders is that, you can turn 1cc of spore solution from a syringe into 100 ml. of liquid mycelium .

everyone is karo-tek this, karo-tek that... no one likes good old honey tek My friend has jars for every strain, they last at least 6 months, and yes 1cc of spore solution creates enough liquid mycelium for 40 quart jars at least, more if you want...

Personally, I prefer dextrose, aka corn sugar.

i have to agree, dextrose is better for agar . but, karo is cheap, and available . a lil' salt and vanilla doesn't seem to hurt anything .

Honey Karo Malt Sugar Golden syrup
Any soluble sweet processed thing seems OK...
How do you guy balance the need to shake vs the need for a hole in the lid to allow minimal exposure innoculation?
Do you all use h202?. I use 1 to 2 ml of 3% at day 4 to 6. purely as a vector of oxygen for later growth

i never shake . draw a syringe full of liquid from the jar and blast it back in .this cuts mycelium to shreds . do it 2 or 3 times, and you're ready to inoculate . make a self sealing inoculation port with high temp silicone . use 100ml karo water in 1/2 pint jar, there will be plenty of air . mycelium will usually consume all available nutrients in a 4% solution within 5 days after germination . i only use h2o2 when working with wild spores .

any auto parts store will carry high temp silicone . punch a hole in the jar lid, and squirt a blob on the hole . whala .

Great tip deanofmean!
Are there any problems with silicone plugs clogging the syringe? What gauge needles do you use? If you had your choice, what gauge would you recommend?
Oh....how impolite of me. Hello Shroomery!!! I've been lurking here for a while and thought I might finally join the party. GREAT PLACE you folks have here.
Hope you don't mind a few more questions.
Obviously, liquid tek is THE way to go. I'm thinking a liquid tek could help eliminate slow colonization times in pint jars if you're inclined to use them. Just grow enough mycelium to shoot the hell out of the jar and it should colonize fast enough to avoid contams. Is there a reason nobody seems to be growing out the mycelium and eating the cakes? Is the mycelium less potent than the fruit?

18 GA x 1 1/2" tip; punch the hole with a nail, this will give the silicone something to hang on to .
