Oh yes, it can be completely dryed out, then rehydrated.
The only thing you'l lose is time. Good luck.
As there not pinning or anything, dunk them for 24 hours in mineral water (bottled spring water) Moisture = key.

Okay, he said he used Distilled water when he first dunked them. Could that of broguth upon any contams? Also, it looks like the top of one cake is bruised, but he said he thinks it's from misting.

Distilled water is ok, but i use mineral water (bottled spring water) myself, and yes bruising normally comes from misting of handling the cakes directly. I'd dunk those babies again if they've dryed out so
much.
Good luck

THe dude hit me up and said that the cakes finally starting pinning. THe yellow seems to have stopped spreading and it just looks like discoloration, not a contam. Is this possible? Is this yellow on the cakes defin a contam? I'd just like to figure out what it really is, contam or not. My friend says thanks in advance.

I'm going to say all is fine, and that is just die back of the
outer mycelium (due to dryness) and all is well if humiderty
is raised.

I'd say that was some dried mycelium you got there. The dunk was a good move, just watch them grow and report back if the discoloration comes back.

Would any1 suggest that I buy a dehumidifier for my basement growing room? I live in a pretty humid area and I will meticulously humidify my terrarium according to what my humidity sensor dictates - but is it true that fungus can spread airborne to the other cakes in the lab even better when the air is more humid?
