Grad School Help
    #18497281 - 07/01/13 02:00 PM (10 years, 10 months ago)

Hello all,

I am an undergrad chemistry student, going into my senior year and I want to go to grad school to research fungi, primarily for their medicinal properties.  I like to make extracts and analyze them with the instruments, but none of my research so far has borne any fruit.  I'm not exactly sure what approach I want to study from, Org. Chem of Nat. Products, Mycology, or something else.  Can anyone give me any advice at all?  Perhaps recommend some schools/programs?

My friend actualy went into psychiatry to research medicinal fungi and participated in some really cool studies and co-authored some papers.  It took longer than the traditional grad school route b/c it's essentially med school with internship & residency requirements but now she's a doctor.  Her undergrad was molecular biology.

Good luck!

You might contact Dr. John Holliday at Aloha Medicinals.  He has a scholarship program and might be of additional help with schools or people that are in the business.  If you are interested, PM me and I will give you his phone number.
