ultra-sonic humidifier tek doesn't work
    #1828796 -

The ultra-sonic humidifier as set up in the magic mushroom growers guide based manily on the pf tek doesn't work. The instruction state that one should connect the ultra sonic humidifier to 4 two litre coke bottles to condense the water to provide adequate humidity for the terrarium. No humid air gets through the tubes connecting the bottles, terrarium and ultrasonic humidifier i have sealed with liquid silicone could anyone give me an idea as to why this setup doesn't work

Ive got a friend who told me it would work better with a direct hose from the humi. to the chamber and put the humi on a timer.

start with just 1 bottle on the line,
only add more [one at a time] if needed to reduce condensation
in the terrarium.

It worked perfectly for me with three bottles, but I also ran it with none in a later set-up.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

I recently went to the Daytona reptile breeders expo and found an alot of ultrasonic humidifiers for $20 (exo tera brand)
They are used for creating 'fog' effect and moisture for tropical lizards. Would these work ok? The Fogger

i use a sunbeam brand ultra sonic humidifier from walgreens. its on a timer that is set to come on for three minutes 20 times a day on the low output setting, fed directly into the terrerium(s) and it works perfectly without all of those bottles and other unnessessary contraptions. the sunbeam humidifier sends the humidity out of a hole in the top that just happens to accomodate 3/4 in. clear tubing found in any plumbing supply. slight adjustments of the on/off intervals and the time between each interval can be made so that this will work for any size terrarium. besides all that, fluctuations in the rh and the temperature seem to immitate a more natural setting anyhow. its been my experiece that if the environmental conditions are too constant it could actually have less than desirable effects on the growth cycle..blah blah blah....

>i use a sunbeam brand ultra sonic humidifier from walgreens.

I I have used the sunbeam brand as well and have had no problems with mine. I used 3/4" pvc pipe sticking straight up out of the 'humidity hole' in the top. After about three feet, I capped the pvc pipe. I drilled holes down the side of the PVC so that I could run small feeder tubes to each terrarium. The excess vapor condenses inside the PVC pipe and drips back down into the resevoir. I still use a timer so that the humidifier isn't running all the time. The timer is set to turn on six times a day, four hours apart, for three to five minutes .

i tryed messing around with the ultra sonic himidifier for a while and man, for me it was a pain in the ass...i got it to work, but on my next batch i decided to try going with some perlite instead. it worked perfect and is way easier than hokkin it up to the bottles, messin with the tubes, sylicone etc...but thats just me

I did much the same thing, only my pvc pipe was L-shaped, with the humidifier sitting on the floor.

The vapor had to rise about 5 feet, then I ran a hose off of the 4-foot horizontal pipe to my chamber.

Gravity kept the really heavy mist from making it all the way up the pipe, and it just fell back into the humidifier to be vaporized all over again

When I set up again I am goign to try the fish pum & geolite method, though.
