Mass. Woods?!
    #1839141 - 08/21/03 10:28 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Hey, today me and a friend decided to gather wild mushrooms in the local woods. The mushrooms varied in size, color, etc. I think i recall hearing that psilocybin mushrooms don't grow wild in Massachusetts? But we found questionable species, before i posted any pictures I wanted to know if any mushrooms that make you trip do grow in this region. None the less it was fun hunting for them!

Check the FAQ.

It answers many questions like that one.

Don't forget to read the sticky threads at the top of the forum before you ask for an ID on any mushrooms in your photos.

But please do post your photos.

Happy mushrooming!

I would post the photos but my digital camera exceeds the kb's, cuz the picture has to be like under 100 kb's so i'll need to scan photo's in probly.

crop the pics in photoshop or something and change the size. either that or you can change the resolution of the pics to lower the size. Im from MA myself and havent had any luck really anywhere. Supposedly there are Gymnopilus spectabilis (apparently not worth it, nasty flavor and not very potent) and Pan subs. By the way, what part of MA?

I found myself stumbling around the Mass. woods recently too. Found a good amount of fungi, most of the posionous variety however. Took a few snaps for fun.

Your not going to find any actives in the woods in mass. Maybe, MAYBE some gyms, but I've never found any. It would take a brave one to eat those anyway, they are nortoriously bitter from what I hear and look very much like very poisonous mushrooms.

You also might find some Amanatia Muscaria, but I have never found those here ether. If you do find any of those, it is very importent to post pics of them here and have a very detailed description.
