Psilocybe tampanensis
    #18485596 - 06/28/13 08:38 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Here we are again, fruiting P. tampanensis.
Print came from mycomattie, thanks!
Put it on MEA, it started to pin a few days ago on
the plate, so I figured it will be a pretty decent fruiting strain.
Wedge->Rye berries->Bulk substrate, my normal procedure.
Cased with pasteurized cactus soil.
Pinned rather quick.

Whats up stonesun.... :sun:

Nice looking tamp grow bro!

Alan recently informed me that P tampanensis as well as P atlantis are both actually P mexicana varieties.

I thought that was a pretty cool discovery!

Hey PP!
I've heard that from Alan as well,
we've had a brief conversation with him and Workman on the topic,
but I'd really like to see Alonso publish his paper on it before
drawing any conclusions.
I've sent specimens to Laura Guzman, hopefully they can sequence them.

It's my universial substrate: horse manure, coir, vermiculite and gypsum (50/30/15/5)

Wow man, I almost shed a tear looking at the sheer beauty in those pictures. I noticed some of your top holes were left open on some monotubs (your third post) and I was wondering why you did it that way.

Stonesun is the man .  I wish I still had some of your genetics to play with.

Ah I see! I didn't see that post. What I'm really trying to ask is how he came to the conclusion that having a few holes w/no polyfil is better than having them all lightly stuffed. I'm not questioning your technique Stonesun, just wondering what led you to make your decision. This is mostly because I am planning on starting some exotics soon and I would like to know what to look for in order to make decisions regarding things like polyfil.
