i just made my syringes, one you can noticably see the spores floating, the other you can not. the glass i used had spores and i saw them suck up but it has none floating. is that ok? are they in there? another question, i bought minute whole grain brown rice the other day and dont want it to go to waste, can i use that as substrate? just cook it and mush it? no verm. just that? and how long can i keep my syringes in the fridge before i have to use them? can you tell im new at this?

It's okay, they're in there.

Sure, but you want to drain that stuff -really, really well-. I mean, cook it, dump it into a colander, and let it sit a couple hours.

I don't suggest using minute rice. You'll probably end up with a soppy, soggy mess that won't colonize and only attract contams. Regular brown rice can be found in any large chain supermarket.
