Coco fibre --> coir
    #1848273 - 08/25/03 02:33 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Cant I make coco coir out of coco fibre by grinding it in a food processor. My Processor was able to grind Mimosa Hostilis Root bark, so it should be strong enough to do it.
Im asking, cause I bought some Fibre from Canna Coco in a headshop today. I usually case 50/50-Tek, but I cant find the ingredients in Geneva.
Canna Coco Package Description:
85% Dry Material
80% Organic Material (what else , but coco??!!)
5 - 6 PH

colour "normal" brown (not light , not dark)

If this doesnt work, can someone tell me a shop in geneva, or a chain in switzerland , which sell coco coir?
Thx,
jazz

sounds like it should work, if you can grind it fine enough .
some water in the blender might help .
should be about the same consistency as peat when done .

dont have a hydro shop here.
The raptile-shop has "coco-chips". They are squares of coco, does this sound any more promising than the fibres to anyone?
I found some Coco Coir to be bought in switzerland. It is very confusing, as there are different grades, and types. could someone please help me find the right type?
Varieties - I think growing Brick 650 , sounds ok, right?

Grades - Fine Grade, or special old grade sound good. But special old has a lower moisture content, but higher "water holding capacity"??!!

I know it's asked a lot, for you to look, but I really cant decide which to buy, as I have no referance.
Thanks in advance,
Jazz

Canna Coco is usually coir, NOT coco fibre.

Well, in gemrna it is probably called the "Canna Coco Substratmatte".
That's why it is in fibres. (believe me it is, cause I bought it...)

Substratmatte is something different, true.

You want the Canna Coco brick.

I found something they called bricks, but they where small squares of lightly compressed coco earth. They are used to plant cannabis seedlings inside. Ill try it with this, cause Im desperate...
