How safe is only using a SAB?

So i'm gonna definetly experiment with the bunsen burners when I pick em up from the science depot near home, but alas, I am a lazy fuck and just havent gone out to get it yet. But my petri dishes came in yesterday.
So i got agar agar powder, petri dishes, and dog food.
My goal was to make the agar, pour it and knock up agar with 3 bunsen burners in a triangle...but, Dont have em yet.
So, how safe is it to just use a regular old still air box, no hood no nada...just sterilized the agar mix , let it cool, quickly bring it into my sanitized area, and pop it into the still airbox. Pour them all in the still air box, and put spores on the agar (once they cool down). What's success rate if I add in factors like, it's not a dirty bathroom. Fan will be off. I bleach germicidal clean the still air box itself then wipe it dry, I alcohol my gloves all the time, I bleach germicidal clean the counter top and semi walls and mirror and sink that i place the SAB near. And I flame the needle in between each dish.
Also, 20g 20g 1000ml makes 50 dishes. 4g 4g 200ml makes 10 dishes >.> So i'm assuming for just 5 dishes (to do now, til i wait for my bunsen burners) would be 2g Agar Agar 2g Dog Food, blendered into powdery form) and 100ml water.

It's unbelievably effective if you can work in a mostly draft-free room.
I recently set up a tent for my work. I live in a drafty house and have been fighting contams since my day one.
Still air is so effective that I can close up the tent into a "still-air room" and as long as I'm wearing proper clothes, showered, brushed, etc. and work very carefully, I can do all my agar work in open air.
I still haven't tried grains in the tent without the box. But I have used the box without a lid to inoculate master jars as well as 8qt WBS bags with no issue so far.
Still air is awesome.

Even if it looks like this

so air can still get in? Someone told me, just enter and exit this style SAB slowly, and go slow when doing stuff inside the box.

That's all I've ever used

That's my current "lab."
But I used the SAB pictured with 97% success or so in my drafty, old, pet-filled, carpeted living room before I got this.
Best success rate I've ever had is when I work in a draft-free area. If you can work even in a mostly draft free room, wear gloves and tyvek sleeves, and use proper sterile procedure...you'll be golden

Ignore the Mushies we were harvesting and here you have it. Two holes two gloves and so far 100% success since initial grain transfer. Don't need anything special

I hung painters plastic around my work area to cut down on drafts.
I use that large SAB when working on things like G2G where I need more head space.
When I work with agar I put my small SAB inside of it.

Edit: Wow this thread is old. I thought frank was back around for a second there.

Been good! Just lurking the forums these days until I can get back to growing again..

I thought you were gone for good since I hadn't seen you around for quite a while. Good to see you're still alive.

Any advantage to working in a grow tent other than that it's sealed? Do you just use it to further reduce any chance of a draft in your SAB?

That's all. Smaller spaces are easier to control and have smaller volume equaling less contam load, .
