i have a bag of leached dry stable shavings(horse manure and sawdust mostly). i was wondering how light a manure mix should be to colonise and if i should add some vermiculite. i plan to dump this concoction across my lawn to see what mushrooms happen to grow, and to increase the nitrates in my lawn

sqeeze a handful to test consistency, it should crumble apart easily, like good humus soil .
if the texture is like sludge, or slimy at all, then yes add some verm .
after draining it should be nice and airy .
