Hericium cirrhatum
    #18468923 -

Hericium cirrhatum is a rare and edible species native to Europe.

To my knowledge, it is not native to North America.

It is very often confused with Climacodon species.

Substrate:  rotten logs and stumps of Fagus,  Betula and Quercus species.

I will try to get that species into culture.

Interesting. It looks slightly more toothy than Climacodon. Is it more rubbery or soft and fluffy?

They have a very long term realtionship, but they’re “just friends.”

That is a true beauty!:thumbup:

The only Hericium species registered in Norway are H. coralloides and
H. erinaceus, however both species are very rare and on the biological
"red list" - former is near endangered and the latter critically endangered. :frown:

It is very soft and has a pleasant smell; very similar to other Hericium species.

In Switzerland, that species is also on the red list and indicated as "vulnerable."

That's another reason to get it into culture.
