Sorta dumb question

My good ol' pal Abdul told me that he just realized after his cakes have been in the fruiting chamber that they are a littel close together. There are signs of knots and the fuzz has already spread to the surrounding perlite. The question is, would it be okay to spread the cakes out a little before they begin to form pins? Basicaly he just wants to know if it's okay to handle the cakes at this point. Thanks again!

yeah...just make sure your hands are clean...and try not to crush any knots...if they're sitting on the lids then handle them by the lids...

No, no lids. Why do people leave them on the lids anyways?

Most fill the lids with verm. Make's for a good moisture draw and easy to move the cakes.

lids seperate the cakes from the perlite so that they don't soak up too much water...soggy waterlogged mushrooms ain't pretty.....

I was wondering about them having too much water. How can I prevent this? Just putting them on lids?

yeah...just put something to seperate them from the perlite...some people use the lids...others use foil...others use a grill or a screen...
