mycelium eating trich??
    #18464743 - 06/24/13 10:35 AM (10 years, 10 months ago)

this was green a few days ago. I was about to throw it out when I noticed the mycelium running across the agar and engulfing the trich. pretty cool stuff. if you have a strong culture does it put up a strong fight before losing the battle?

The problem on a plate is that it gets all over and hides.
What species?
The only thing I've seen slap trich around is running oyster mycelium in semi-cold temp.
Occasionaly young shiitake myc too, but, usually shiitake loses that battle. I know one thing. Young mycelium is more apt to do it. The game changes as it gets older & weakens.

If you wanna save that one, make some edge transfers quick

thank's for the comment oeric. it's just a PC clone from Ecuador. I always take a shit load of samples when I clone so I got it in a test tube over a week ago and have it locked away in storage with my other strains. I have certainly never seen cube MYC do this to trich, usually the first day after a spot turns green it takes over the dish. i'll have to see what it does when I fruit it out, because until then it's just a cool story lol.
