Kentucky?

Does anybody know anything about living in Kentucky?
I am curious about how secluded it is. What state, in the east, can you move to and find vast amounts of backwoods country side?
What towns?

I've heard eastern Kentucky is very secluded with all the coal mines and mountains.
Western Kentucky is just the Midwest. Little towns dotted around.
It feels like people only know about Kentucky for the colleges, bourbon, and horses

I would like to find my way to those hills. Wonder how hard it is to get some property there?

I'm not sure but it's probably super cheap.
Tennessee may be a better pick though. I think their income tax is cheaper than and you could probably find a place just as secluded

I live in Kentucky. But basically Cincinnati, Ohio really since I can see it out of my window. Northern Kentucky is pretty decent.. I really wouldn't recommend you move anywhere south of that unless you're going to Lexington or Louisville because it is just as redneck as the stereotypes that you hear. And even down there you will encounter plenty backwoods hillbillies.

You can find acres of countryside in plenty of eastern states: NY, PA, MD, VA... just to name a few. Not real familiar with Kentucky specifically though.

I live in the country in PA, but someday I would like to move south or either have second house or 'shanty' down south in Kentucky, Tennessee, or North Carolina area.
