fluff in jars

Is it normal for one to see thin fluffy white puffs poking up through the vermiculite layer upon opening the jars?  I realize that this is probably a stupid question and I'm just being paranoid, but I've never done this before and I'm nervous about contams (cobweb).  :oogle:

It's more than likely the mycelium spreading through the verm. I'm in your situation (newb), I saw it in mine too and was not concerned. It grew through so much that I could barely scrape any verm off.

BTW, the cake is fully colonized right?

My kitten always experiences this with her cakes, and has fruited and munched with no problem.  Just make sure it has a healthy, mushroomy smell before proceeding.

Yeah, everything smelled shroomy, nothing foul. Probably just healthy mycelium. This is my first and I'm paranoid by nature anyway.  Thanx ya'll.  :eyemouth:
