mycobags no colonization after 7 days
    #1843745 - 08/23/03 04:06 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

hello there my friend innoculated 10 mycobags with 2 spore syiringes from sporebank.com (ordered from sporebank.com but the syringes were sent by sporeworks.com weird shit) and after 7 days theres no signs of colonization... he mixed up the substrate thoroughly after innoculating... i've heard bad things about spore syringes from this place, so i'm not expectin to see any colonization... is it cool to re-innoculate now with new spore syringes (different strains) or should he wait a week to see if they colonize... btw the bags are being kept inside a box with 2 heating pads on the lowest setting, with around 4 layers of cloth in between, so the tmeperature should be fine for colonization
thx

Can you provide more details about the bags? (pre-sterilized, self-healing injection site, etc.) I don't think there would be a problem about sporeworks' syringes.... (maybe you didn't shake the syringes well before inoculation...?...) Also put a temperature near the bags and see how much the temp. is..... But anyway, wait as Ravinoff said!....

Mine took almost a month to start, I blame myself for pesting the bags inspecting for growth... just leave them somewhere dark and warm... then come back to them in about 2-3 weeks... it will be a wonderfilled surprise

I thought I did something wrong, but after 7 days I had some white growth. My closet is hot and humid as fuck, so that helps.

If my bag is slightly colonized, should I shake it up?

my fingers magically typed those words above. wow!

Mine took about 2 weeks to really start to show. It now has it's little pins starting.

Laviathanx- yeah shake it up a bit and crumble it around, it will speed up colonization

just make sure you innoculated right around the innoculation site, not in the center of the bag like you may think.

well inocculation was near injection sites but then the substrate was all mixued up and shit, so the spores gotta be all over the place, i dunno if that may be a problem

Squishing the mycellium isn't a problem is it? I found that where there was growth, it was a soft, yet tough chunk of grain substrate. So I just squished it between my fingers through the bag and mixed that up with the rest of the stuff.

Also, when it's fully colonized, should I just leave it in the bag to grow, or do something else? This is my first time.

^^^
above is a false statement
