WHAT TO DO WITH COOL MIST HUMIDIFIER?
    #18451124 - 06/21/13 09:40 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I just bought a Crane Cool Mist Humidifier for $5 on craigslist. I am beyond happy because it holds ALOT of water and works perfect.

I was looking at the "tips and tricks" thread ( http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17493222/fpart/2/vc/1 ) and saw something about finding things cheap on CL so i decided to look for a humidifier and found one right in my neighborhood. However, i am not sure what to do with it...

I have 2 shotgun fc and 3 monotubs in my closet/grow room. in my mind, i was gonna run tubes into the the sgfc, but i have no idea what i am talking about.

i read that cool mist is good for FAE, so should i just leave it running in the open within the closet?

i also read that you can't use humidifier with a smart switch? what is a smart switch? i am assuming that means it detects the areas humidity and turns itself on when the humidity is low...?

here is the link for the same humidifier: http://www.target.com/p/crane-drop-ultrasonic-cool-mist-humidifier/-/A-11036853?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=%7C11036853&CPNG=Home+Improvement&kpid=11036853&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=11036853&gclid=CIbC9tS99bcCFYed4AodEC0Aig

if anyone could lend a helping hand and suggest how i should use it, let me know.

That is not a cool mist by our terms.

That's an ultrasonic.

It provides humidity and mist, not FAE.

Either use it for a mini-GH or use it to humidify your grow room (not the chambers/tubs).

Or put it next to your bed when you have a cold in the winter

Yeah, stick it in a greenhouse or use it like you're supposed to. Humidifiers have no place in a shotgun chamber or a monotub.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

i guess it is time to do a GH. every time i think i have mastered my environment or methods, there is always some more practical way of doing something. space is limited in my brooklyn apartment, but i think the mini-GH will fit nicely in my closet. i will finish these tubs/pf cakes and then start doing trays (?).. i guess i have alot of reading to do.

i never understood how people get 10 dry oz. from a single monotub or whatever else... i guess my next bit of knowledge i will persue should be isolating sub-strain since i use MS and using a greenhouse so i can keep humidity/temp consistent bc i would imagine that affects my yield in the long run...

Whatever you do with it, be sure you've everything completely planned out before you drill any holes in it or something.

I bought a $60 ultrasonic one time and ended up completely ruining it hooking it up to my greenhouse... it sucked

I had an ultrasonic and then a regular humidifier. One was mostly for FAE and the other was mostly for RH... both hooked up to a good water reservoir and individual timers.

It worked well until I decided to tweak somethin... and boom $60 down the drain...

cheers
