Hey guys so after my first tub I decided to start using liners. I'd like to know if you guys have any tricks or tips.
I cover every side with tape to make sure nothing falls under the plastic, but I do loose space because sometimes it's too tight and I don't get as much room from the tub as I would like. I'm using a 95qt tub right now and I only used 10 qt of sub and 10 qt of colonized wbs.

not sure about other people but i line the entire tub and use the tape thats covering the holes to somewhat hold the liner up. i then pour in everything, even it out, then cut alongside the liner itself.

oh, i also use clear liners then tape up the sides with duc tape. with the clear liner i can peel back the tape to check the growth of myc. you cant tell much just by watching the top.

I found a few things that helped me during the monotub grow in my sig.
-I cut the bag after mixing and pouring the substrate into the bag (which is layed in the monotub.) -I cut the bag with a lighter. -Cut the bag before you store the monotub during the time of colonization. -Place substrate materials (coir, verm, etc) in a 5 gallon bucket, then place your spawn in the bucket (be sure to break up spawn). Shake up the bucket tremendously, turning and throwing it every which way, to ensure the spawn has been thoroughly mixed. Of course, you want a lid for this. -I never used tape to hold my liner up off the substrate, but actually cut (burned) the liner to where I could pull just enough through the polyfill holes. Then just tuck some polyfill in the holes and the bag is secure. (of course if your holes are taped or something then that won't work for you.)
Liners are the bomb. I know you'll enjoy them!
Regards, Midnight

Well a simple poly film should be good enough and can be bought in 10'×25' rolls on the cheap.. that said I have seen some on here even use trash bags cut to fit. Use your tape on holes plus a bit extra if needed to hold it back, (try to make sure its flat against all surfaces below your bottom holes)
no need for a bucket, as you can mix your spawn/coir in your lined tub before evening it out...
cut liner at or just above flattened substrate level after evening it out (use razor, or your scalpel) remove excess liner, and check that the corners were not held up.. (eg if your tape held them up, resurface your sub a bit to fill in any gaps/make level)
Light is not a pinning trigger so no need to tape up the bottom of your tub with duct tape either... If you have clear poly, then just leave it as is to see... The main purpose is that it will shrink in when your substrate does so as not to allow the gaps that create a "perfect" microclimate and lead to sidepining.
