Burying weed ?

I have some weed that i want to get out of the house but i don't want to sell it. I think it'd be cool having the odd stash here and there for hard times in future.
I want to do it without spending loads on specialist kit.
I was thinking of using those jars with the metal clip thing and big rubber washer to make an air tight seal. I'd dig a hole big enough for the jar and an upturned bowl to go on top deep enough to create an air space around the lid so water can't wick up. I was considering using a upturned mini plastic bin to make a little room underground with gravel at the bottom for the whole jar to sit in but it might be an effort to dig the hole big enough.
My main question really is how will the weed in the jar react to fluctuating temperature assuming i can keep water out ? Does it need to be bone dry or will it store with enough water in it so the buds don't crumble to dust with the slightest touch ? Has anyone done this before ?, or buried anything to store and might have some insight ? I'm worried about condensation inside, the buds will be well packed in.
We have cold winters and warm wet summers here.
Thanks for any help.

you can keep it as dry as possible by cleaning the jar with 99% rubbing alcohol and then putting it in your oven at a low temp. I think if you quickly open your oven then pump CO2 gas into the jar then place the buds in it and seal the jar, that it should be good for quite a while. Or if you have a workstation with a vacuumed working area that would be better but I assume you do not.

Mason jars are a good container. I recommend adding some dessiccant packs so it isn´t all moldy when you dig it up.

Nice ground cure,, . I was thinking in terms of what i had at home but i can pick up some mason jars. I'll still try and protect the lid. I'm looking at burying them for 1-3 years. I think i'll do 2 jars. If i'm using desiccant then i assume it needs to be bone dry in the jars. Better safe than sorry i guess, never mind how crumbly the bud is.
I'm scouring google earth for suitable places, even trying to think outside the box for above ground locations. Trees are an obvious one but i'm getting a bit old for climbing trees.
Thanks guys.

I've never been a fan of the whole burying thing. Anyone sees you and you scream for attention, you look sketchy as hell, and the first thing they'll do after you leave is dig it up to see if it was money. You can get geolocated. The herb itself is very much at risk from the elements: it can get moldy, wet, eaten by some bug or animal, etc. There's too many "if's."
I'm a big fan of hiding things in the normal walk of life.
Would a bank safety deposit box work for this? Obviously the herb would have to be sealed ten times, but you can't get more secure than that!!!
Another idea is to rent the smallest possible storage space somewhere for a few bucks a month. Throw a few pieces of junk in there, and a locking file cabinet, with said wrapped herb.

I'm not resisting, but I don't consent to any searches.

I think a buried cache is much safer than a bank safe deposit box. And if the box is in your name it can be frozen like any other account you have. The banking system is not a secure place to store your money, let alone your weed. Buried out back with a desiccant pack to keep it good is the best you can do.

Never heard of burying weed before, however; since you have experienced the process it should flow smoothly like water. I agree with Eliss Dee about the banking system, too many variables with that scenario. If you not trying to burying it I would look into naturally existing nooks and crannies that are not obvious to the naked eye. Hollowed out trees etc. Do alot of people live close by and share your woods? I think all of us feel for the fact you ever have to hide one of your passions. good luck!

Why not create and bury a tincture? Fill the jar with grain alcohol. That will keep it fresh.
Maybe olive oil... maybe... but I think that it would get rancid.

I think buds will be alright in a air tight jar, desiccant is cheap enough. I'm leaning towards smaller jars and nooks and crannies. I can make magnetic jars, i have a few ideas where i could put them. I passed a tree the other day with a hollow and it was full of bees, that would suck,, .
I'll be leaving this house and moving somewhere else, if i bury them it's in a public place nearby. I think i could pull it off but doing smaller jars one at a time is less risky.
