Raid
    #18445312 - 06/20/13 12:18 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

So this is a random question, the closet where my mushrooms were living was just infested with ants. They didn't eat or go near my GH but my wife just bombed the whole closed with Raid. You think this will affect my growth or make the shrooms toxic??

If the GH was fully closed, the mushrooms would be suffering.

Greenhouses should have passive air exchange.

Just give a few of the fruits to someone you don't care much for as a test subject.

I never worry much about organophosphates, anyway.  They don't bioaccumulate, since the biological half-life is so low.  If your mushrooms were in the closet when she bombed, I might consider throwing them out.  Otherwise, you'll probably receive no more exposure to them than you probably would from some freshly-washed tomatoes that were grown pre-2002 in the US (or right now in Mexico).

Unlike heavy metals and chlorinated solvents, if Raid and the other chemicals in its homologous series don't kill you right away you can expect no persistent health problems.  The concentration of Raid necessary to kill bugs is much, much lower than what you'd need to even make an adult human sick.  I guess I'm trying to say you're fine.

Gl on eating those...  (I wouldn't touch them if there was the slightest possibility raid got through)

Tell the wife to get those torro traps they walk up into and carry the liquid back to the nest next time.  It will keep your lungs and shrooms raid free, and the ants will disappear completely within a couple days.  (My house had 6 gigantic ant hills right around it when I moved in, as well as a bunch more further out in the back yard.  Those torro traps traps inside the house took out 4 of the close ones within a week and the biggest had ~10' perimeter visible above ground...  The rest of the suckers left my house alone, but as they persistently tore up my yard, they became fair play for homemade incendiary devices later that year)

Are you fucking kidding me?
I'm Irish first of all.
Secondly,, raid is a blend of multiple highly toxic insecticides.
You can't fathom that it makes people sick??
You should maybe avoid growing food

Hahaha "they don't bioaccumulate"
You straight up pulled that out the ass...
No need for "accumulation" they sicken you instantly.
A human is organic life. just like a giant bug.
"Indian or jew" lmfao.
Only certain ethnic groups are affected by RAID

Okay, you're wrong about a whole lot of stuff here, and I'm wrong about a little.  First of all, I do avoid growing food, but the people who grow almost everything you eat spray it down with the active ingredients in Raid all the time.  You eat Raid all the time.

Organophosphates don't bioaccumulate.  Spend a few minutes learning about something rather than just looking at my post count and dismissing me.

"A human is organic life.  Just like a giant bug."  This is an intensely stupid statement, and if all organic life were susceptible to the same things, then pasteurization wouldn't work, antibiotic agar wouldn't work, and if you swallowed a few pennies you'd die.  Since cobra venom doesn't kill badgers and pigs, that means we're immune to it, right?  By your logic we are.

You know that genetic diseases tend to be passed down within ethnic groups, right?  One of them is a susceptibility to organophosphates, called pseudocholinesterase deficiency.  I could list a whole lot of others, but I suspect you dislike reading.

I was wrong in that some of the new Raid formulations do include chlorinated compounds which have been shown to bioaccumulate in rats when ingested orally at a rate as small as 25ug/g.  That's the equivalent of 1.25g for a 50kg human.

Itsaconspiracy, I'm sorry if I came off as a troll.  I was genuinely curious, and my next question was going to be whether he was hypersensitive to Novacaine, but I don't really care anymore.
