I wouldn't recommend adding oil to a liquid substrate. The oil will likely stay on the surface and may suffocate your colonizing mycelium. Oil used in a bulk substrate is only about 1% of the total substrate, but has quite a bit more ingredients available for colonization..

i think he's talking about oil in the substrate mix, not the LC. i would assume that oil in the LC would just float on the top and be useless. i could be wrong though. :nicekitty:

Is the manure supposed to be completely dried? Also, is shedding necessary? Could I just use tennstud dry manure?

shredding will help mix it better. One question, casing layer on this recipe, yes or no?

Fastest way is Pan syringe or print to LC > Grain / Poo Bag > Case and flush

I have had grows as fast as 25 days from print to print so to speak

Edit: This post is kinda old don't you think?

i know that this post is a couple years old, but my friend is very interested in trying it. the only problem is horse manure is hard to come by, he was wondering if he could substitute it for steer(cow) or sheep manure. and if so which would be a better choice? thanks a ton

Any herbivore's manure should work. Cow manure will work and has been used successfully

I think horse is preferred because it comes out with more plant fibers. Kindof a one stomach vs. 4 stomachs kindof thing... I think. Not sure

You could always use Coir from your local pet shop.  Along with the previously stated recipe ingredients add a quart of spent coffee per brick of coir.

Old thread... but new to me.  Just started... have a respectable martha... reptifogger and cool mist and heat and controls for both... hpoo cow-poo chicken-poo gypsum pc coir etc.

I've been using jars without much success (too wet... been worshipping David Barlow's tech, but I'm not doing something correctly) ... now getting bags and suggested sealer...

Tried golden teachers PF (rest in peace, professor) with some success -- until vacation (DAMN YOU WOMAN!!!)...  now trying pan cyans HI...    no success.  Trying LC -- unsure of success of that.

I need to blow up the shit house and start again.  Kelp is on the way.  With new syringes (this time B+ and pan cyans HI).

Will buy stock in Oust... and make the downstairs bathroom into my own mycological clean space (no carpet and very very small).

There is so much information -- almost an overload.  But I'm going with your method and filter bags.

Thanks for the info... if it doesn't work, I know I fucked up.  But what good is a hobby that any fool could be successful in, right?    Now to buy some tyvek sleeves...

Thanks to you, agar, and blue helix and everyone for being so agreeable.

Peace, Todd
