Casing Maintenance

So I have been doing some research about casing and figured I would try it. So heres the method I used http://www.sporetradingpost.com/casing_for_dummies.htm
I know its probably not the best one but it looked easy to do. I was just wondering what to do after i let it sit for 3-7 days. I already have a few signs of mycelium growth already and i made it on Monday. I have a cling wrap cover and it is sitting in a dark warm place
How long until fully colonized before putting in FC? I think mine might be going a little slow. Would it hurt to give it more time? Can i give it a nice 2-3 spay mist every once in a while? And when can i take the cover off without worrying about it becoming contaminated?
Im just curious because its my first time and im not looking to mess anything up. Better safe then sorry. If pics or any other details are needed just ask. thanks again for everyones help. Always satisfied

they should be sitting somewhere where then can get ambient lighting
you want a casing layer about 25-30 percent colonized, then fruit it.too much colonization defeats the purpose
mist until it glistens if your using fine verm you should see beads of moisture on the surface, mist when this has evaporated
it's not the contams your worried about at this point, it's nice high co2 levels that you don't wanna let escape, just make sure you have something for ge and the drop in co2 levels at birthing will help your pinset pics are always needed

I was thinking of poking holes in the wrap for ge. And can i keep it in my grow room? i have a 12/12hr light schedule already. When you say birth.... Like the same way as the brf cakes are taken out of the jars? I was thinking of keeping the casing in its plastic container and putting it in FC.
Pics will be posted before 6pm tonite. Thank you

I don't colonize my casing layers at all. I just make them thin and throw them directly into fruiting. It always colonizes enough those first couple days in fruiting to do well.

if your growing cubes then why even bother with a casing layer.I used a casing layer once just to try it and then done grows without it. ive been doing uncased ever since and have had some pretty decent flushes, ive had a few poor flushes and some mediocre but thats how it goes with multispore.
Unless ofcoarse you are fruiting grains without spawning to bulk thats a different story, but if i was doing that id do a rez effect and mix the grains 50/50 with hydrated verm.

casing layers are only required if your fruiting strait off grains, any bulk sub doesn't need it

Im still fairly new to bulk. Could you send me in the right direction. I want to use any method that requires just breaking up spawn and having in a larger container. Basically anything that will bring more then cakes. I have been getting 1g or less per flush with cakes.

Then my suggestion is this: look at a couple dozen posts from the past couple weeks, and look in people's sigs for their own personal teks. If you see one you like, use it. That means it's least likely to use outdated information, and most likely to have someone active who can help you if you run into problems.

Quick question. After the first flush a lot of people debate to either dunk or just mist the casing. Which method do you prefer? I would like to just mist it if possible. Thanks
