you should take a picture of the bottom of the jar, not the bottom of the side because it is hard to tell. is it 100% colonized besides that part?

Here's more pics--taken today. (2 days later)--it's pretty much 100% except for that one part.

did you use course or fine vermiculute? i have found that course vermiculite is much more difficult to mix, and sometimes chunks of moist brown rice are pressed up against the glass and look like that. here is an example of a 24 oz. pf cakes i am making with course verm.:

even if the verm isn't course, it might just be moist br against the jar. maybe you are right, tropicalfrenzy, because it is better safe than sorry, but in my experience with pf jars, nice, healthy jars will look like that.

The metabolites surrounding the 'force field' are a sign of infection. They are mushroom antibodies/immune system, for want of a better description.

It's not just dark areas. The white slime is from the bacteria too.

I used fine vermiculite...
I will throw it away..
EDIT: Actually, since it's just bacteria and not mold.... I could just throw it away and save the jar? No need to boil to kill it or I should still boil it?

I wouldn't bother PCing a jar with just bacteria. It'd be kind of pointless considering the massive amount of bacteria the human body is already releasing into your home.

I think you guys were just joking so I just boiled it for an hour, and am going to wash the jar. -______-

Seriously, you can just dump the contents in the toilet or outside somewhere as long as there's no mold in it, just bacteria.
