not fully colonized h-poo
    #18441954 - 06/19/13 11:40 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I have had several small trays of h-poo and WBS start fruiting before fully colonized recently and have not gotten very much as far as yields. They do not seem contaminated in any way and was curious as to why this may be happening.

Bacterial contam :frown:

A lot of bacteria problems on bulk subs just look like uncolonized substrate.  The fruiting before 100% is the giveaway.

fae, evaporation off the sub and full colonization are the three triggers so one of them is the cuplrit more than likely...

No, I'm guessing he kept his air exchange limited to GE.

Early pinning is a sign of contam 95% of the time IME.

Bacteria will do what he is describing.

really? yeah i suppose.. but wouldn't there be visible signs of bacteria or is that not always the case?

Not on bulk.

You'll see signs like yellowing mycelium, metabolites, etc. but that's only if the myc can make it that far.  A bad bacterial contam, usually coming from the grains, will just look like uncolonized substrate. Your myc will run into it, think it can't colonize any further and begin fruiting.
