In the midst of a grain prep, while they were in the strainer, I fell asleep.... Now the grain is entirely to dry... What's the best coarse of action here?
Edit: they are going to be used for receiving G2G transfers... If that makes a difference...

Eh, I say dump it out and try again. Especially if rye.. They might have started to sprout or something?
I would wait for a more experienced word or at least a bunch of inexperienced opinions that agree with me. lol.

I would just resoak them, just make sure they are not squishy/soft after soaking them again. Sometimes i get lazy and " forget" about my grains and they soak for a couple days, i still use with no probelms.

What stage of the grain prep were you in? Was it after the soak or before?

24 hours should be the limit for soaking but for draining well there suppose to be dry anyway i'd just check with my fingernail for moisture.

That's what I was getting at. If it's after the soak & boil, they'll be fine. I've let grains sit in jars for 24 hours before PCing due to being too tired that night to PC.

Same here. But I've also smoked myself asleep while waiting for them to dry after the simmer, and by the next day they're trash. Way too dry to use.

It was after the soak and boil just sitting in my makeshift bulk strainer lol... Even had the jars sitting out as they were about to be loaded....
I'm just PCing the grain anyways... There was some moisture there for sure... And I can hit them with sterile water if there is a stall....

Hitting them with sterile water doesn't really work.
Start over or you're gonna be disappointed later.
