how important is it?

Ok, so Im going to move my project into my closet to make it kinda stealth because its awkward telling people they just cant go in or know about one room in the house lol. But my question is how important is it that a monotub is off the ground? Im having trouble find a really low table that will still let the tubs fit haha... and if its important how far off the ground should it ideally be?

Basically contaminates are heavier than air, so in a still room, such as a closet, these contams drift toward the floor where your tub is at. Now imagine all the contams that missed landing or being sucked up by FAE are just sitting there waiting for the gust of wind you create opening the door.
That being said, I have tubs sitting on carpet as we speak , damn jars are moving fast and wearing out too boot.

Not a huge deal. It's frowned upon with carpeted floors due to an increased contam risk with fabrics although that's it really.
If you have tile or wood floors, even better, keep it on the floor. I've done most of my grows with the bottom tub resting directly on the floor.
Hell. If you're moving the grow to the closet, you could always set up a GH in there in place of your tubs when they are done. Even move the cakes from the tubs after the first flush and transfer them over to the GH for some bomb ass fruits.
If you'd feel safer, raise the tubs about 6" off the ground. Don't sweat it though. You should have the tubs sealed completely through colonization, then when you fruit, the mycelium will have a strong enough hold that the fact that the tubs lay on the floor shouldn't be a worry.

With a monotub, not a big deal. Fully colonized sub is very contam resistant and contams are really the only issue with a monotub being on the ground.
If you want to be sure, though, go to the store, buy those red party cups people use for beer pong and put one under each corner of the tub; Or use empty jars, it's pretty easy to elevate a tub off the ground with things currently lying around your house.
Now, if you are using a SGFC, you NEED to elevate it to allow air flow through your bottom holes. You cannot just stick a SGFC on the floor, but a monotub... there isn't much issue.

Alright thanks guys! i was honestly considered something simple like cups/jars but i plan on stacking 3 tubs so idk if it will still hold ( jars might still work though!) And I would try a GH matty but its just too much money that i dont have right now unfortunately Im going to try to find somethign to put them on but it good to know its not necessary for monos!
