Plan B for the full pinters.
    #18439926 - 06/18/13 10:41 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

What's up shroomerites? Alright, basically I just nocc'd up some Costa Ricans with regular ol' pf tek, only in pint jars (2cc per jar). I'm aware that these have a notorious low success rate, so I'm trying to go for some kind of plan B. Say, if my jars stall out or contam halfway, I could cut them in half, and fruit them as half pint cakes, or I could make a monotub or two. this is just hypothetically speaking. If by chance they do work out (keeping my fingers crossed) than thatd be awesome:). Anyway though, do you guys have any suggestions for some sort of a plan B or route you would take if you were in this situation?

My first crack at pf tek I did the same thing (couldn't find 1/2 pints) and I got full colonization, just took fucking forever. I'd say leave em and if they stall out, just birth, wash off the uncolonized part and go from there. But don't be impatient cause they can fully colonize, my first dozen did.

Yeah, I'm hoping the 2cc's will give them more of a chance. I'm not really worried about colonization times as I am about them actually making it to the fruiting stage.

If you can't find 1/2 pints you can also do what I did later, just fill the bottom couple inches with dry verm, make sure its level, then carefully spoon the BRF mix over top. Its a bit of a waste of verm, but you will get far faster full colonization.

I read about that and it's a great idea, but unfortunately I read it after I prepared my jars. Although, I'm pretty confident I can work these jars, and even if I do get some form of problem I can work my way around it, better to improvise than let a potential yield go to waste right?

They will probably be fine, just might test your patience (but hey you need lots for this hobby right).
