grain jars without holes?
    #18439890 - 06/18/13 10:36 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I'm a newbie at this, have done cakes and grains to hpoo and now have bought some more quart jars and plastic lids which I want to pressure cook for G2G inoculation.
Can I avoid putting holes into my plastic lids? I would like to pressure cook plastic lids and then inoculate with grain after which I would be leaving the lids a little loose for some air exchange?
Any advice with reasons is greatly appreciated.

:nojustno:

Holes are a must for GE. Otherwise your jars will either stall or contam. Plus you might have a hard time getting them open as a vacuum will form and suck the lid down.

thanks for the quick response, so unscrewed/lightly screwed isn't enough? - too bad - (in more ways than one I guess)
