Can you be more descriptive about the location of the mycelium? Pictures may be helpful. I'm not sure I understand. If you have mycelium growing, even where the 'should not be', why would you consider there might be contamination?
Mycelium growing = Good.
Are you talking about the dry vermiculite layer using the PF Tek? If so, that is fine.
Try to stay sterile when doing you work. Try to leave the cakes alone when colonizing. Don't worry until you SEE contamination - there is nothing you can do until either that happens or it's ready to birth.

Bro come on! really? its growing on top of the vermiculite filter im not gonna risk contaminating it for pics its exactly how it sounds

IF THAT DOESNT HELP THE PICS WONT FOR SURE!!!

That's what i was planning on doing i just wanted to be safe! Thanks bro! i figure they would have already contamed but i haven't took them out of my little safe box i keep jars in before i let them colonize freely on a shelf so i was thinking it was sterile as hell in there cause it fucking GROWING pure white on the top lol and inside the jars very rizo VERY RIZO indeed!

Here's a little more info to settle your mind...
They have done the same on mine. The dry vermiculite layer prevents contaminants from growing since there is no moisture to allow the contaminants to grow, but the healthy mycelium sometimes peak around to check to see if there are nutrients/moisture/oxygen even if they need to travel through some dry terrain.
Do you have a filter/tyvek/micropore allowing gas exchange in your jars or are they sealed?
I'm assuming they are consolidating or close to 100% colonized?

Bro i wish they wher fully colonized they are not even 20% they compacted after i PC'ED them so the needle wasnt long enough so it knocked up the bottom layer of the verm filter and spread up to the top but is also where it is supposed to be! And no there is no tape on them i didnt have any and there is no tyvek or anything but the lid covering the top but i do have them inside a sterile tote and havent touched them since i seen this happening! I should be good they've been like this for a week and the myc looks amazing still completely white and very risomorphic!

and yes im sorry PF TEK BRF is what im using! They say not to pack it in but i think you HAVE to pack it in when you use pf tek with pint jars because after they are PC'ed they WILL shrink inside the jar!So next run i will document and have proof of my lil theory!!

That is not true. A: You don't need to PC them. B: I don't really pack mine at all, just spoonfuls lightly placed in the jar until the top line. Even out the top without pressing down. Wipe edge. Add top verm layer. Mine come out fluffy with lots of room for the mycelium. It will compact slightly, but mine only pack down a couple of mm's. C: If you pack the substrate, and PC it, by your logic it may get packed more. Either way, a packed substrate makes it hard for the mycelium to colonize.

im amusing your talking about full pint jars like i am and the 1's i packed are fine doing great but still compacted down a lil bit but the ones i did like your saying to do them the way RR & RoadKill did them only have worked on half pint jars i have 12 done like your saying and there GREAT but the FULL pint jars i did this way and i have myc growing on the filter layer now so like i said im going to pack them down a lil bit more next time i know for a fact it will work for them i will also pack the verm a lil bit more as well and not scrape the top to even out either but rather leave it i will patt it down and go from there this is my second run in with the pf tek shrinking down on me in full pint jars! the one i packed down this time i didnt pack hard and they only shrunk a little! so this time from trial & and error i will pack a little more harder and i bet that's the ticket for me i bet you! If i screw up it will be a 1 jar loss and i have some L.C i've been waiting to test so i'll run the experiment with both that sounds like a plan to me because if i do it your way i get this problem all over again!

to everyone viewing i would like to add by packing i dont mean smashing, cramming, stomping or any of thee above i mean every spoon full i will tap the jar on the counter kind of how a person would "FREAK" a black and mild if your lost its ok what i saying i would do is to gently drop the jar and pick it up in a lite tapping motion to evenly distribute the mixture and pack it down!

Tappin it down on the table like your mentioning is ok. Ya kinda need to do that to even out the substrate.

YEAH YOU DO!!!! I figured that out through trial and error I have right now one of those compressed jars with a big chunk missing inside the jar think of a piece of cake cut out of the hole cake and that's what happened inside one of my jars MASSIVE MYC growing in that spot all knotted up its pretty sweet looking but i fear ill lose them from my mistakes but the battle to get it right persist and i don't plan on stopping anytime soon!!!
