Why do my cakes look like theyre growing cauliflower in the fruiting chamber?
    #18436772 - 06/18/13 12:44 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Here are some pics of my cakes at birth 7 days.  I am fanning/misting about 5-8 times a day.  Are they supposed to look like this?  All that my research has turned up is that it is rizo growth.

Thanks for looking and tolerating my total noobdom.

What is the length and method of your fanning?

They need more fresh air exchange

lack of FAE doesnt cause that.

Im no expert, but to me that doesnt look like cubensis. maybe im way of though.

it is possible that either its a contaminant fungus, or possibly a mislabeled syringe?

Idk..  aerial mycelium maybe....  get a shot with a bit better light.

Also get one that shows your fc...  (last few times I have seen pics like this is when someone had very few, too small, or no holes for fae)

Either you're going to have oysters or I would guess you birthed these right at 100% colonization.

They were allowed to consolidate for about a week after colonization.  I fan with the lid of the chamber for about 30 seconds after misting.  I might need to drill some more holes i suppose.

if it's aeriel mycelium there's no known cause for it, itjust happens from time to time and has shown up in all sorts of cases, try snap a pic of the chamber if you can

It does no good to post a small, unlighted picture.  It's useless.  Use proper lighting and take a picture clear enough to make out detail if you want more than just guesses.
