LC ingredient ratios
    #18436426 - 06/18/13 11:28 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Hey everyone! So I am starting a new project in the very near future, I'm using full pint jars, so after reading through various threads I came to the conclusion that I need to do a LC if I want a better success rate. I've never done a LC before, for this procedure I'm referring to Otto's beginner friendly LC tek. I'll be using honey (karo light), and obviously water  But heres my question, the basic formula is 1 tbsp of honey per every 200ml of water. People have failed due to the myc using up all the nutes, yet using too much can inhibit/ stop growth completely. so in your guys experience what ratios have proven successful? Thanks and good vibes!

I don't follow you in the myc "using up all the nutes." That doesn't make sense.

If your LC has problems, 99.9% of the time it is contam'd. People using LCs for cubes are generally pretty new in terms of cultivation (no offense to anyone) and so you should take random statements from old posts or unknown members with a grain of salt.

You can and should use as little nutrition and sugar in your LC as possible. All my most successful LCs for cubes were 1g of extra-light malt-extract to 600mL of water as recommended by TL. It grows nice and light in the LC and then flies when it hits the grains.

Yes, you can bump my old threads with a question.
Here is how I get things done.
You should take a look. :hehehe:

Some people say thats why it stops growing, because it's used up all the nutrientz to gfow out on in the honey. I guess due to not using enough?  Not sure. I want to fully understand the LC tek because I dont want to waste any valuable sporeson a deadbeat LC. But seeing as it would be beneficial to success my hands are tied. Im just going to thoroughly sterilize the jar and follow Otto's tek. He's a TC so i'll take his word.

Otto's tek is outdated by today's standards.

TL is a Trusted Cultivator and so am I.

Less is more with LC.

You want fewer nutrients. You'll see much better performance in all aspects.

Check the link I added above.

Yup.
1) its not only nutrient you are dealing with but sugars, which can cause death actually.
2) don't confuse death with haulted growth. You don't want the mycelium overly thick

TL's recipe sounds good. you want a leaner mix rather than one that is too rich.
For laymans use, I find that for a pint of water, a small pinch of malt powder between 2 fingers is in the ideal range
